Today, I found this blog post from a fan of Rick’s. It’s so awesome to find these little “gems” on the internet. If you haven’t seen it, check it out, in particular the video posted at the bottom of the page which was put together as a gift to the writer’s wife for Mother’s Day. After reading the post and watching the video, it got me thinking about how many other fans out there have similar stories to tell about their LIFE’S CELEBRATIONS that could easily be told with a soundtrack to Rick’s music.

Now, the movie AN AFFAIR OF THE HEART showcases the stories of a small group of featured fans and really captures the spirit of what it means to be a Rick Springfield fan. If you haven’t seen it yet, DO IT. You can catch it on the EPIX channel now and if you don’t have EPIX, check out www.epixhd.com where you can stream it on your computer. The movie is awesome but they could only show so many fans in 90 minutes. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t more stories to tell!

The Low Down…

If you haven’t made a video yet, here’s your chance. Create and upload your video to YouTube and then come back here and fill in the form or EMAIL ME your story or the link to your blog and/or video along with your name and a brief description about your story and what Rick means to you.

My daughter was turning 10. I am a prolific picture taker and have 100s if not 1000s of photos that I have taken from the moment she arrived in this world to present day. In honor of her, I made her a video that would show her just how much I love her and what she means to me. As this video will show, Rick Springfield came back into my life in early 2008 – right when I needed him most. What I didn’t know at the time was how much of an impact he would have on my daughter. While making this video I was struggling finding the right songs that would really convey my feelings about everything up until that point. I didn’t want the lyrics to be sad. I wanted words that were full of hope. It was exactly during this time that my friend Kim sent me a link to a website and told me to have a listen to the song posted there. I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard a song from Rick that I had never heard before and better yet, the words seemed like they were written just for my daughter and I. I asked where that song was from and being the huge fan of Rick that she is, even Kim didn’t know. We would later learn as previews of his album SONGS FOR THE END OF THE WORLD were released that this song was one of the new ones and it quickly became “our theme song.” Although this was originally intended as a tribute to my daughter, I hope it can convey in some small way the reasons why I do this website. Some may tattoo his name on their body and for them, that’s ok but this is what I do and how I do it. I have been keeping track of my journey on my personal blog which includes more about my story and where Rick fits in at www.krisfluck.com. Enjoy the video, which by the way features a non-Rick song at the beginning (gasp!). Once you see it, you’ll understand it was a necessary part of telling the story….
