“I still can’t figure it out, but it’s turned into the most amazing phenomenon. That was in 1976 and to this day, I can attribute just about any friend (and even my wife!) to less than six degrees of separation, and it all stems from this family tree that started back with Rick.”
These are the words of Jeff Silverman who when reflecting back on his musical journey that began in his parent’s living room in 1964, remembers his time playing in Rick’s band with great fondness. Jeff’s dream was, to one day, be a solo artist and after an intense audition process to become Rick’s guitar player, he was on his way. Like dominoes falling into place, the gig with Rick turned into meeting Joe Gottfried and Tom Skeeter, which led to a gig at Sound City Studios as an in-house production artist. Eventually, this experience shaped Jeff’s career as a writer, producer, engineer and mixing & audio master. He continues to collaborate with Rick, most notably on the From the Vault album and most recently on Rick’s album Rocket Science.
There is much more to Jeff Silverman’s story but he tells it much better and more in depth on his website. Check it out here.
